Brief History

Girls Should Thrive Initiative (GIST), was established in 2008 as an online platform called Girls in Search of truth but blossomed into a fully registered NGO on 6th January 2017 when we realized that those who really needed what we were providing were not on the internet but in disadvantaged and rural communities.

WHAT WE DO

March against hunger

This is an annual project that will take place in march every year and the goal of this project is to campaign on the importance of educating girls, advocate for women to protect their girls more by putting them in school and watching them closely and we will use this as a medium to recruit girls for our training program as well as putting them in school.

Health for her

This project will also take place once every year in June and the goal of this is to introduce young girls to ways they can take better care of themselves and protect themselves from infection, rape, teen pregnancy and other forms of mishaps. It will also be a strategy to recruit girls for the training program as well as putting them in school.

GIST Hub

This is our training school, which will run all year long. Here we will be training the girls on different skills and empowering them to accomplish our vision and goals.

GIST Conference

This will also be an annual conference, which will take place in November/December. It will serve as the graduation ceremony for the girls and also a fundraiser for the next session.
